WonderKids provides specialised occupational therapy support for children with ADHD in Malta. Our qualified therapists help children develop the focus, organisation, and self-regulation skills they need to thrive at school, at home, and in social settings.
How Does Occupational Therapy Help Children with ADHD?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) affects a child’s ability to focus, control impulses, and regulate their activity levels. Occupational therapy addresses the functional challenges that come with ADHD, helping children develop practical strategies for everyday life.
At WonderKids, our therapists work with children to build skills in:
- Attention and focus: Strategies to sustain attention during classroom tasks and homework
- Executive functioning: Planning, organising, and completing multi-step tasks
- Self-regulation: Managing energy levels, emotions, and impulses
- Sensory processing: Many children with ADHD also experience sensory processing differences that affect their ability to focus and stay calm
What to Expect from ADHD Occupational Therapy
Our approach begins with a thorough assessment to understand your child’s unique strengths and challenges. We then develop a personalised therapy plan that may include:
- Sensory regulation strategies to help with focus and calm
- Visual schedules and organisational tools
- Movement-based activities that channel energy productively
- Fine motor and handwriting support
- Social skills development through structured play
- Classroom accommodation recommendations
Sessions are 45-60 minutes long and designed to be engaging and fun. We also work closely with parents and teachers to ensure strategies are implemented consistently across all environments.
How Does Our Team Support Children with ADHD?
Our occupational therapists, including Ema Bartolo (BSc OT, MSc Sensory Integration) and Maria Balzan (BSc OT, MSc Sensory Integration), have extensive experience working with children with ADHD. Their advanced training in sensory integration is particularly valuable, as sensory processing difficulties often co-occur with ADHD.
